Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2026
1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of VIN from Reg(the “Service”), which is operated by Rego Notes, a business based in Australia. By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service does
You enter a UK vehicle registration number. The Service returns the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) recorded for that vehicle, together with whichever of its make, model, year of registration, body type, fuel type, driveline and country of manufacture are available.
3. Price and when you are charged
One lookup costs £2.50. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details.
At checkout your card is authorised for £2.50 but not charged. If the lookup returns a valid 17-character VIN, the payment is taken and the result is shown. If it does not, the authorisation is released and you are not charged. Your bank may show the amount as pending for a few days before it disappears.
Because the payment is taken by a business outside the United Kingdom, your card provider may apply its own fee. That fee is set and kept by your card provider.
4. Digital content supplied immediately
The result is digital content supplied the moment the lookup completes. By starting a lookup you ask for it to be supplied immediately and acknowledge that, once it has been, the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations no longer applies. A lookup that has returned a VIN is not refundable on the ground that you no longer need it.
5. Accuracy of vehicle data
Vehicle information is retrieved from third-party data providers and supplied as received. We work to return accurate results but do not warrant that the data is complete, current or free of error. Fields other than the VIN are not held for every vehicle and may be absent from a result.
The Service is an information tool, not a vehicle history check. It must not be relied on as the sole basis for a purchase, valuation, safety, insurance or legal decision. Always verify the VIN against the vehicle itself and its V5C registration certificate.
If a result shows a VIN that you can demonstrate is not the VIN of the vehicle with that registration, email us and we will refund the lookup.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Look up vehicles in order to harass, stalk, trace or otherwise harm any person, or to clone or misrepresent the identity of a vehicle
- Resell, redistribute or republish data obtained through the Service
- Scrape, automate or bulk-query the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or interfere with its operation
7. No affiliation
VIN from Reg is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by the DVLA or any government body.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. It depends on third-party providers, and outages or changes at those providers may affect it. You are not charged for a lookup that cannot be completed.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue or business, and our total liability relating to a lookup is limited to the amount you paid for it.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to a lookup is the one published here when you make it.
